B – We decided to work on the project “obtaining electricity from sun light” developed and presented to our Association by Mr. Muzaffer Tamer in April 2005. Our Association, together with Mr. Tamer, negotiated with Tarsus Municipality + Tarsus Chamber of Commerce + Tarsus Chamber of Agriculture, between May 15-17, 2005 in order to persuade them to implement this prevoltaic energy project with the contributions of the local government and non-governmental organizations. The information and documents related with the project were given to us by Mr. Tamer. We gathered these information and documents to publish a book and presented these books to the institutions we negotiated. After some time, Mr. Tamer and his team went to Tarsus again to remind these institutions of the project.  Following his second visit to Tarsus, on November 8-9, we, as the Association went to Ankara with Mr. Tamer. We negotiated with both Electricity Study Administration and Secretariat General of the Council (of the European Union). We presented the books and documents about the project. Now, the Project is being suspended at Mersin University Technopark Unit and Tarsus Organized Industrial Area Management for appropriation of land. We sent letters to the Rector, Mr. Tamer Gök and to the Tarsus Industrial Region Manager, Mr. Cenk, to thank them for their interests towards the project during their negotiations with Mr. Muzaffer Tamer. Unfortunately our efforts since April 12, 2005, have not been resulted positively yet.

 PLUS ENERGY HOUSES

 INTRODUCTION :

These houses, producing more energy than they consume, have no relation with the zero energy or low energy houses, which are already known. These houses perform as a power central and give the excess of the energy they produce as long as sun exists, to the energy network of the city. On the other hand, wastes and dirty water, which have always been an unsolved problem, are now being solved within this project.

CULINARY CULTURE of TARSUS - Kadir SEN

The Culinary Culture of Tarsus is a synthesis of the experiences of many centuries. The geographical structure of Tarsus is a very significant characteristic of Tarsus. In Tarsus, cultures of plateau, mountain, prairie and sea live together. This has brought diversity to Tarsus cuisine. The fact that agriculture and industry has been developing in Tarsus, also the internal migrations, modernities provided by the transport and technology cause Tarsus culinary culture to change rapidly. Due to change and interactions, some part of Tarsus culinary culture is inclined to be forgotten. Traditional dishes are being rarely cooked. Number of people knowing how to cook these dishes is decreasing every day. Even, some dishes are now existing only in memories.
